Hwange National Park
The Park lies south of the Victoria Falls, where the wetter miombo
savannahs meet the sands of the Kalahari. Once the hunting grounds of
the Matabele kings Mzilikazi and Lobengula, and decimated by early
European hunters, an area of 14000 square kilometres was placed under
conservation protection in 1949 and the Park now boasts over 100
different species of mammal and 400 species of bird.
The Hide Safari Camp
Situated in it’s own private concession, the Lodge comprises 10
en-suite, luxury tents under thatch all of which overlook one of the
busiest waterholes in the Region.
The Hide prides itself in fine cuisine, and meals are enjoyed either
alfresco, beneath a canopy of camel-thorn acacias or around the grand
teak dining table.
The Hide is situated in one of Hwange National Parks most outstanding
locations, bordering ancient elephant paths and a vast grassland
corridor. Herds of elephant, buffalo and a myriad of others are drawn
to the constant waters of the waterhole, and the spectacle of predators
making a sudden appearance is not uncommon. There are two concealed
“hides” located on either side of the waterhole which offer
close encounters and incredible photo opportunities in a secure
environment.
Game viewing activities are conducted on foot and in 4x4 vehicles.
